Happy Thursday! So as usual, let me tell you about my day!
I can’t remember exactly what time I woke up/got up, but I know by 10am I was up and ready – boxing up cake pops and taking pictures. Wanna see them? I absolute adore the way these came out (which was a much needed pick-me-up after my disappointing cake experience the other night)…
And speaking of that cake the other night… I got a text from the client today and she absolutely loved the cake. While I will still say that it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done and I would certainly change things if I had to do it again, I can also say that I learned a couple of lessons and if the customer was happy, I’m happy!!
Here’s a picture of that cake:
Anywho… so after I got everything ready, Richy, Sarah & I loaded up and headed to Meadville. My sister had an appointment in Natchez (the Wizard of Oz Cake Pops final destination) so she was meeting my client there with them. We got to her office around 11am, hung out for maybe half an hour, then headed home.
Funny story… my sister and I like to talk. A lot. Like, alot-alot. So after we bring the cake pops into her office, we start chatting. At some point Richy gets tired of waiting, so he just walks out. He doesn’t say goodbye or anything. He’s not one to get mad or anything like that so I wasn’t worried.
I kept talking – trying to finish whatever we were gabbing about when a few minutes later, he comes back in.
I said, “SO, are you ready to go?” and he laughed and said, “Well, yeah!”… hahaha! He still needed gas in his car, so I asked if he wanted to go fill up while we finished talking. He laughed at us and left with Sarah. When he got back – we really did leave. Probably around 11:45am. After we get on our way home, he said he really just went out to the car to get a drink of his coffee or something
When we got home, I can’t remember what we did next. I think I started baking and he started getting ready for work. As of this morning, I hadn’t baked anything off of my huge list except for the things already delivered. If I did anything else, I can’t remember, but I know I spent the bulk of my day baking. Baking. Baking.
In fact, as I sit here at midnight, I can’t think of anything else I really did today. I baked all of my stuff. I decorated some more cake pops for a different order. We did no schoolwork. No housework. No… well, I did write about the Wizard of Oz Cake Pops over at Rose Bakes when I sat down sometime mid-afternoon for a little while, but that’s it.
So tomorrow I can get straight to the decorating!
OH – and one more thing. Joshua took the kids over to my parents’ old house to watch the partial eclipse today. We have too many trees around our yard and the sun was too low for us to see it. As it turned out, it was nearly to cloudy for anybody to see it but Joshua did get a couple of cool shots (this kid of mine knows soooo much more about using my fancy camera than I do!!)… unfortunately I can’t find his picture right now – he probably has them on one of his SD cards.
I’ll have to settle for this one he posted on Facebook. He took a picture of his camera with his phone… it was pretty cool! Can you see the moon beginning to eclipse the sun right there in the middle rectangle? It’s moving in from the right.
So, it’s after midnight now, my hubby just walked in the door from work, and I think he’s going to watch some of the football game I recorded for him tonight, so I’ll probably stay up and decorate cookies 🙂 Tonight was his last night of this wonky schedule so maybe we can work our way back into a normal routine!!
