I feel like a teenager again… writing in my diary every day 🙂 So, let me tell you about today.
I had my alarm set to get up by 8:30 to start my cake work. If I’m being honest, I had it set for 7:45, 8:15 and 8:30am. Yes, I am afraid of turning it off and sleeping half the day away… haha!
But I got up at 8:3o finally and grabbed some breakfast and started my cake work. My hubby has every other Friday off and today was an off day, so he planned to take the kids (except for Sarah – she wanted to stay with me) up to our church to do some landscaping and therefore… I didn’t have any school planned for the kids.
Granted, it would’ve been nice to finally catch up on that missed school this week, but we feel that real-life lessons are just as important as book lessons and today they learned about hard work (real physical labor), volunteering, being generous, and working with integrity to do a job right. Those are good lessons in my book – I’ll take it!
Anywho… by 11:15am (just in the nick of time), I had finished cake #1 and at 11:30am, my brother got here to pick it up and deliver for me. I promptly started on cake #2 and had it finished by around 2:30pm. After that, Sarah made some buttercream for me and I frosted this last set of cupcakes!
..then I wrapped cake boards for some cakes I’ll be doing tonight and then Sarah & I loaded up and set off to deliver all of this:
That’s 10.5 dozen cupcakes, 2 dozen Oreo Pawprint cookies, an Italian Cream Cheese Cake and the Monster Trucks cake pictured above. My brother delivered the Pink Painting Party cake pictured up top for me!
Sarah and I ran around – making about 8 separate stops for deliveries and groceries and a little snack 😉 … then home by 5:15pm.
When we got here, we put up groceries, sat around for just a few minutes and replied to a few messages, then started a load of laundry and started baking my last round of cupcakes/cake (the missing orange cupcake liners that I mentioned yesterday arrived today).
I also started cubing up bread for the three pans of bread pudding that I’m making for tomorrow’s groom’s table. Oooh, oooh, oooh… I also got my Fair Trade Friday package in the mail today… I’ll have to share pics of the goodies inside tomorrow (it’s late and I’m hoping to not get up again tonight).
The rest of the night sort of just ran together. We ate supper, I frosted a few more cupcakes, we bathed the kiddos and did another load of laundry and got the dishwasher running (fourth time today), and finally, I’m settling in at 10:30pm to spend a little one-on-one with the hubby since all the kids are in bed! This is actually very early for me to be sitting down on a Friday night – I usually do cakes until the wee hours.
I can’t stay up too late tonight though – in them morning I have to finish a Caterpillar Cupcake Cake, finish a wedding cake and bake all the bread pudding that I put together tonight. Fun, fun, fun!
What’s your weekend looking like?
