Day 6 won’t be like the other days of this series…. I’ve been a little overwhelmed today. Can we all just agree to skip Mondays from now on? At least Mondays like this?? I’ll take two Sundays or two Tuesdays, but no more sucky Mondays. Please.
It started with Christian getting sick around 1am. Stomach sick. In addition to earache sick. Why can’t my kids get sick during the daylight hours?
Got up at 8:30am. Ate breakfast, checked email & Facebook and checked in on sick kids – they’re all still not feeling 100%.
10:30am started cleaning house and sanitizing everything. I’m SO ready to have all of my kids well.
12:00 Made lunch (leftovers and mac & cheese) and made my baking list for the week. I started early this week because it’s a BIG week!!! Can you tell?? I’m doing a cake for tomorrow, a wedding tasting Thursday morning, a dessert table for 300 on Thursday night and then all my “regular” stuff for the weekend… a baby shower, two birthday cakes (plus candy apples and cake pops with them) and a wedding & groom’s cake. Oy!!
12:30 I realize it’s hot in the house… Oh, I see… the AC is not working. Great. I might have cried for a minute. Also made appt to take Christian to the doctor at 2pm because his ear is still hurting and and canceled speech therapy (normally at 1:30 on Mondays).
1:00 Finally get the kids started on some school and started some dry pinto and black beans on the stove to have for supper.
1:30 Get ready and run out the door for the doctor appointment… leaving at 1:48 which is at least 10 minutes later than I needed to leave.
2:00 Sitting at the doctor’s office and being thankful that our small town family medical clinic never makes us wait long. And that it has outlets where my kiddo can plug in his Kindle while we wait so he’s not asking questions every two minutes. Then we see our doctor – who I adore – and it’s not as bad as I thought!!
2:56 Leave the doctor’s office and run across the street to pick up our Rx – Christian hasan ear infection, but his tubes are NOT clogged and are still in place. The Rx won’t be ready for awhile, so we run down to the Dollar General for cat food, dog food, Oreos for this week’s BIG order, and a few other odds & ends… namely – a little “Ice Cream Therapy” for a frazzled Mommy.
I mean really… it’s cheesecake flavored ice cream and it’s a limited edition flavor… I had to buy it!!!
3:36 Pick up our Rx and head to the grocery store. I also need strawberries for tomorrow’s order.
4:00 Home, sweet home. The kids have done all of their Handwriting, Bible, and History work on their own. I start working with them on Math, Science, Language Arts & Spelling quizzes. I also sent the 3 year old to bed because he had a meltdown over not being able to watch his 437th episode of “Faw-trol”… aka Paw Patrol. Everything that starts with a “P” gets the “F” sound instead. He loves to eat “Fizza” , which sounds like FEETsa… and watch “Faw-Trol” and he says “Fweeese” (aka Please) a LOT …. just thought I’d interject that bit of humor.
5:40 Well… scratch that homeschooling plan. We got Spelling & Language Arts done and then Daddy got home at 5:15 and all structured work went out the window. Now the ones that feel up to it are helping him with yard work and getting tools while he works on the AC. PS – I have yet another kid sick… again.
5:45 I’m eating bread pudding with bourbon sauce. I haven’t eaten the previously mentioned ice cream yet – it was soft by the time we got home, but the bread pudding? It’s hot and I neeeed it. Okay, not need. But really. It’s been a stereotypical Monday. I put on PJ bottoms & a t-shirt, sit on the couch – do a little
whining writing and catch my breath.
6:30 Started supper – Taco soup… so easy and delicious. I used some of those beans I cooked earlier (the rest will go in the freezer for future taco soups and chilis). While it is simmering, I start a load in the dishwasher and start my 4th (or 5th?) load of laundry today. Thanks to all the sick kids, I’m trying to wash every sheet, every towel, every pillow case, and all our “regular” dirty clothes too.
8:00 We all sit down to eat… a little late because the hubby worked in the yard until dark and then hopped in the shower. We waited on him.
8:30 I ask Sarah to mix up a double batch of dark chocolate cake batter for me for my first order of the week – due tomorrow.
9:15 I’m blogging and rushing the kids off to bed so the hubby and I can have our nightly alone time to watch a favorite TV show or just talk and hang out.
10:45 Got caught up chatting with a friend on Facebook that I’ve missed tremendously lately!!
11:15 Hitting publish, hitting the shower, then hitting the bed.
Night Night Ya’ll. Hoping Tuesday goes smoothly with less bumps in the road!!
