It’s midnight and I’m just now sitting down to blog this. Ugh.
In my defense, Thursdays are my baking day so I’ve hammered out 16 layers of cake today plus a handful of cupcakes and managed to make about 40 crafty party favors (not usually my “thing”). Oh and got a shower. That’s a BIG win! Haha!
Okay, so today’s decluttering challenge was to clear 50 things out of my home office.
Funny thing – I don’t have a home office. I do have a desk – where I cleared a whole stack of paper from on Tuesday. And I could probably clear another 50 things out of the drawers of said desk… if I could get to them.
But I can’t. We’re in the middle of re-doing the floors in our house (aren’t they pretty??) and that means rearranging some things.
See – that pic is of our front/entry room and we just finished the floors yesterday… so all the furniture and bookshelves from that room are piled behind our couch and in front of my desk. And while I can climb over my couch and access the top of my desk (which I did Tuesday), the front is completely blocked by a table and boxes.
So basically my life is a complete disaster zone right now. More than usual, if that’s possible.
Anyway… not wanting to ditch the challenge, I decided I’d still aim to clear out 50 more things – and the closest thing I could reach was the kids school bookshelf and the top 2 drawers of a dresser that we used in our living room as extra storage (the bottom 2 drawers were also blocked by stuff).
So that’s what i did. I collected about 10 things to throw in the trash (old phone books, two broken mixer parts I found in a drawer, and other random paper) plus 40 books.

The bulk of the books are A Beka readers I used to teach my oldest son Joshua how to read… about 13 years ago. I never used them again but I’ve always kept them for sentimental reasons, I guess. Not anymore. We have way too many books and way too much clutter and the bottom line is – there’s just no good reason to keep them.
So I bit the bullet, pulled them all down and counted them – added a few other random books that I’ll never use and I’m done!! Whoop-Whoop!
Okay -it’s late and I’ve got a ton of cake work to do tomorrow, so I’m off! Can’t wait to see you back here tomorrow!
