Days 6 of the 31 Days Challenge from TheNester.com.
What a beautiful day we had today! It started off very, very early with thunderstorms and heavy rain. I love the rain and thunder so that did not at all deter me from thinking our day was beautiful.
But by this afternoon it was a glorious sun-shiny day with a bright blue sky! The temperature was in the mid 60’s and there was a breeze blowing and I just wanted to drink it all in!
But let me back up. The only real downside to my day was that most of it was spent without my hubby. He got called into work (which almost never happens) and had to be gone from 6am-8pm.
I’m so used to having him home on Sundays… he gets the kids ready and always lets me have a few extra minutes of sleep. Then he plays trumpet during worship at church and I absolutely love that sound. Note… that’s an old picture of Richy with his trumpet – it’s just the only one I could find in a pinch.
And on Sunday afternoons we usually get back in our PJ’s and watch football, eat junk food and relax.
Our day didn’t quite work out like it usually does, but today was still a wonderful day.
After running around like a chicken with my head cut off and getting all the kids out the door for church (doing that alone is hard work!), I had to teach Sunday school. Richy and I teach together, but generally he does the bulk of the teaching. Without him here today, I got to do all the teaching.
I have to say I was nervous about it, but our class was small today and I think everything really went well.
Then it was time for church! My friends Chad & Jennifer came to our church today to share their story and what a wonderful story it is. The journey they are beginning is an amazing and challenging one and I’m just thrilled to be a part of it in the tiniest of ways.
Hearing all that God has done for them and through them really inspired me and challenged me to obey God above all else – even when its uncomfortable or scary or just plain not what I want to do!
After the service, we all had lunch together and got to visit some more and then I brought home (most of) my kids… some stayed to play with friends at church. We sat around for a couple of hours before loading up and heading back to church for our night service.
I really enjoyed the message tonight as well, but it was a challenge because Asher was tired and cranky can just being really mischievous. He kept kicking the pews and trying to run away and ugh… life with a 2 year old. I just have to keep reminding myself… it’s just a season (thanks Kathy :)).
After church we all sat around eating boiled peanuts and just hanging out. I’m so blessed to have a family and church family where we can talk and laugh and love on each other for hours. I’m blessed… very blessed.
