Okay ya’ll – before you get your hopes up, just know that this is really not a “recipe” for garlic bread. It’s more of a tip to use up stale bread. Ha!
Cheap & Easy Hot Dog Buns Garlic Bread … whaaaat???? Hot Dog Buns??? Yep, you heard me right.
Being a family of eight, for some reason two bags of hot dog buns is never enough, but three is always too many. Inevitably, after we have a hot dog meal, we always have a half eaten bag of hot dog buns sitting on the counter getting stale. And when that happens… I make garlic bread!
I absolutely hate to throw away food, and so did my Mama, so I’ve been eating hot dog bun garlic bread pretty much my whole life.
Are you ready for this mind-blowing idea? Okay – not so much 😉
Open up the hot hot dog buns and place them on a baking sheet.
In a microwave-safe cup or bowl, add a few tablespoons of butter and a few shakes of garlic salt. I’m totally addicted to Lawry’s Course Ground with Parsley. Microwave the butter until it’s melted, then use a pastry brush to paint the open face buns with garlic butter.
Then place in the oven and toast for 2-3 minutes under a broiler! Enjoy!! When we had it the other night, it was served with most amazing stuffed jumbo shells!
