Well…I completely failed to document the last 11 days of February. The bottom line is, my kids got sick, I got sick, and on top of that, I just didn’t make it enough of a priority. But I didn’t forget so I’m just gonna do a quick wrap-up here for you.
And I’ll give you a little spoiler… we didn’t do all that great.
As of February 18, we had only spent $420.88 out of our normal $1200/month grocery budget. We were really on track to save a lot. But then I stopped writing about it and my lack of accountability coupled with all the other stuff brought about failure.
What stuff? Well, 7 out of 8 of us were sick for over 2 weeks, we had some unexpected travel and my husband’s crazy long hours right now made the meal prepping fall 99% on my shoulders. That shouldn’t have been an excuse but considering he usually cooks 2-3 nights a week and he hasn’t cooked at all for weeks since he’s working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week…. I just needed a break some nights which led to buying some unnecessary (fast fix) groceries to make my job easier.
So….. the final numbers. We spent $849.38 out of our $1200 budget… which means our savings were $350.62! I know that’s good – and a lot of money… I just wish we had done better. I know we could’ve!!
Anyway, I also lost count of how many gallons of milk we ended up buying but based on our previous numbers, I’m guesstimating we ended up buying around 21 gallons of milk in 29 days. Good golly that’s a lot of cow juice! Haha!
Anyway – we’ll try again another month and hopefully things will go better! Now I’m off to update my goals for the year and give you an update on those!
