Day 9 of the 31 Days Challenge from TheNester.com.
Being a mommy to 6 kids… 5 of which are boys, means “alone time” with my girl is pretty rare.
So when we get a chance to snag some girl time – we often make a day of it. Today was not really an ideal day for that – it started with her having two teeth pulled and a spacer put in.
But so that the day wasn’t all bad, we did our best to enjoy some time together and it was nice.
After the dentist, our first stop KMart. I never stop in there and I remember why… the store is just blah! The only thing I was loving was the Christmas decorations (although it’s way too early to be buying those).
Our next (and best) stop was Dairy Queen. Sarah was only supposed to have drinks or milkshakes immediately following her appointment but I cheated a little and let her get an Oreo Blizzard 😉
You can probably tell from the pics that she was still a little “drugged” and her lips were still numb (poor thing!) but she did finish every last bite of her Blizzard! That’s my girl!
From there we went to Walmart (again… I was just there on Monday). Long story short – after Monday’s dentist appointment I had to high-tail it back to our hometown for Christian’s speech therapy so I didn’t want to buy all of my “cold” groceries. I saved those for today when I knew we could go straight home (remember, it’s a 45 minute drive to Walmart).
Anyway – we shopped and by then she was feeling a little better so we browsed and took our time. On our way out of of the store we got some cold drinks from the in-house McDonald’s (she was super thirsty) and we headed home.
Tonight we had church so I threw everything in a pot for chili, then spent the rest of the afternoon overseeing the house cleaning and laundry… I’m trying to teach the kids how to do all the chores/jobs the right way, so I let them do it (as painful as it is) instead of doing it for them (which would be 10x faster).
After church tonight, I came home and had a little one-on-one time with the hubby watching Duck Dynasty and NCIS and now I’m off to bed.
How was your “hump day”?
