Today was a really good day and a not-so-great day – all at the same time. On the upside – I got my hair cut. I know this should not be “big news” but ya’ll, I’m terrible about getting regular haircuts. As in – sometimes I go a year or two without a haircut. I’m pretty sure it was about 21 months since I went the last time.
I’m just in a serious habit (rut?) of putting my hair up in a clippy – or sometimes a ponytail, and that being it. I very rarely blow dry it out and “fix” it or do anything other than brush and put it up. My hair is really healthy – because I almost never use heat or color on it – but it does begin to look pretty crappy after almost 2 years with no cutting.
Plus my hair is thin (fine?) (and thinning more, as I mentioned yesterday), so really long and stringy is not a good look. This is a horrible “before” picture – I took it quickly and didn’t realize how bad it was until I got home hours later:
That was straight out of a clippy just before walking into the salon.
So… after losing more than 6 inches of hair and getting a little bit of caramel color added, this is my new look:
And I love, love, love it!! I actually really like my natural hair color and I only have like 5 gray hairs, so color is not super important to me (which should be obvious since I color once every 2 years or so 😉 ), but I do like to give it a little lift when I get around to going to the salon.
I figure if I’m only going every other year – I should really go all out while I’m there. Haha!
Okay – in other news, my fasting window as a little shot today. Since I was in town, I wanted to have lunch with my sis-in-law who works very near the salon. I got done with my hair just before 1pm, so I ended up eating an hour early. And since we went for Japanese/Sushi – I ate way too much.
I initially just moved my window back and planned to not eat past 9pm. I was doing great with that… until I wasn’t.
Sarah went out with some girls from church tonight to get feathers put in her hair and when she came in, she’d brought one home to put in my hair. So I sat down at the table while they were putting one in my hair. And without even thinking, I started eating some of the leftovers still on the table from supper.
I was chatting and eating while they worked on my hair without even realizing what I was doing. And it was almost 10pm when I realized what I’d been doing. This is not a total catastrophe – so I had a 9 hour eating window instead of 8, but I was pretty sad about it. The thing is – I wasn’t really hungry. I was just popping things in my mouth because it was there. So it was pretty much wasted calories that I consumed.
Oh well – it’s done and I can’t undo it so I just have to do better tomorrow. I did drink a lot of water today and I tried Zevia for the first time. Since Stevia is an all natural sweetener, I thought I’d see if I liked these soft drinks (I’m still craving the bubbles).
I only had one flavor so far, but it wasn’t too bad. I don’t want to start drinking these daily in place of the Diet Dr. Pepper but it will be nice to have a low calorie drink on hand to feed my caffiene and/or carbonation cravings from time to time.
I’m off to finish a cake tonight.
Until next time,
